Special Education

Dear 6th, 7th and 8th grade students and families,

Welcome to the 2011-12 school year! I am Ms. Shackelford, your child’s Special Education Resource Teacher. I am excited about all of the new things your child will be learning this year! My job is to work very closely with your child’s homeroom teacher to collaborate and meet your child’s specific academic needs. I will also meet with your child’s writing, science and social studies teachers to check student progress and to make necessary modifications and accommodations on their assignments and projects based on your child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).

I am located in room 219 and I will be “pushing in” with homeroom teachers to teach math and reading. I will also be providing “pull out” services in writing, social studies and science for students who have those specific goals outlined in their IEP.

If you have any concerns, questions or suggestions to create a positive and engaging learning environment for your child, please schedule a conference time to meet with me in the main office.

Let’s have a great year!

Sincerely,
Ms. Vanessa Shackelford
Special Education Teacher
